The warm South Sea air smells salty, the wind blows through your hair in a pleasant breeze. Here, deep under the surface of the water, in the shelter of the rough sea, the story of our pearls begins. It all starts with a small grain in an oyster and grows into a unique beauty. Today we want to take a look behind the scenes of these treasures and visit our little pearl farm virtually.
Where the story begins ...
In the turquoise blue sea right in front of the island Lobmok / Indonesia, hundreds of first-class pearl oysters ripen and grow and protect their precious treasure. Because such an oyster and its hard shell are not that easy to crack. But the trained hands of Betty and her team are faster than we can see and proudly present the opened bowl with its exclusive contents. A perfect, champagne-colored South Sea pearl shines at us - and we naturally shine back at such a sight. All oysters are set here by hand, collected again and sorted one by one. “Of course there is Differences in quality, but for me every pearl is perfect just as it is. Look how beautiful it shimmers! After all these years, I still can't get enough of it and I'm excited about what nature brings out! ”Says Betty, our contact person on the small farm in the South Pacific.
She often comes by, sometimes helps and checks the quality of the pearls that are read. “It is probably the most beautiful workplace in the world!” She jokes, pointing to the sea, the white sandy beach and the palm trees. And in fact, one cannot imagine that anything other than these paradisiacal pearls should be created here in paradise. But there are many work steps, a lot of knowledge and love for the product and for nature that are hidden in such a pearl at the end of the day. But that is exactly what is important to Betty and her team. Also that the people who work on their farm have good conditions and fair wages. “How can we appreciate nature and its gifts if we don't also value the people who bring these treasures to us !?” she says proudly. Everything looks like a beautiful bubble that you never want to leave because you can't get enough of the sea, the beaches and, above all, the unique pearls. What a shame it's only a live stream at the moment ...
