# cleaning
Even if pearls are treasures of the sea and thus arise from the sea, to be precise, from a grain of sand, they are not water rats. In fact, they don't like the water at all, and you need to be careful when cleaning them up. It is best to clean them twice a year with a little lukewarm water and a drop mild detergent. Make sure it doesn't contain any chemicals - they'll attack the surface of the pearl. A particularly soft cloth is best for spring cleaning so that there are no scratches.
#2 drying
Before we bring your pearls to a shine again, it is important that they are completely dry. The best way to do this is to let them dry overnight at room temperature. Because even if they appear dry, there is sometimes still a bit of water in tiny cracks that are not even visible to the naked eye. Because the pearl is a natural product and therefore also has a natural surface that can have minimal indentations.
