Keshi pearls is available in many special colors and thanks to the solid mother-of-pearl of which 100% is made, they are wonderfully shiny. Your Surface quality is unique, its shine radiant and shimmering. This is how this pearl won us over. But how does this rare discovery come about?
Keshi pearls form completely unplanned and whenever a much larger pearl with a core matures in a pearl oyster shell. They arise when the oyster rejects its implant before the growth process is complete, or when its mantle tissue breaks open and several pearl sacs without a core develop. So to speak a By-product.
But what then makes them so rare and special? Keshi pearls, especially Tahiti and South Pacific Keshis, are much rarer today than they used to be, as many pearl farms x-ray their oysters to determine whether the mussels have shed their kernel or not. If a seedless oyster is found, a new core is implanted in it before the Keshi pearl has even enough time to grow. For us, the processing of Keshi has something special in many ways. Even more than many other pearls, they are absolutely unique, by no means perfect in their shape and therefore uniquely beautiful. They arise in a moment of magic that nature conjures up for us before humans intervene. We would like to honor that and not withhold such a diverse, shimmering, special gift from nature in our hempeline collection.
We have processed our most magical specimens into unique pieces of jewelry for you.
